Lumbini is also a UNESCO world heritage site which is known for its ancient values.

Your walk begins to the ancient Mayadevi Temple, recently renovated & the greatest attraction in Lumbini among all the holy sites of the Buddha. The temple has within its walls, a stone image of Maya Devi holding onto a branch as she gives birth to the Buddha; an image which has captivated the imagination of thousands of followers in the Buddhist faith. Within the temple areas, faithful visitors will also come across the Asoka Pillar, built by the great Indian emperor Asoka who finally found peace here after his bloody victorious battles which ultimately brought the curtains down on his violent campaigns that made him one of India’s most famous conquerors. He built this pillar to signify his belief in the birthplace of the lord Buddha which gave his warring soul a long lasting peace. The village walk extends to the sacred gardens & to further old remnants of stupas & monasteries believed to have been constructed centuries ago & can be found all over this divine area.

However, it is important to note that Lumbini is not only confined to religious & historical significance but the spiritual walk through the villages also gives visitors deep insights into understanding the unique diversity of the green tarai belt & its superb culture. Tourists get the opportunity to observe the tarai landscapes & lush vegetation found on the outskirts of these holy settlements.

Useful Information related to your trip:

POKHARA (A tranquil Valley – a City of Lakes)

"No words to describe the serenity of the nook,
it’s a Battle of the Beauties with The bubbling brook."

The late Edmund Hillary had once said “If there is a paradise on earth, it begins from the north to Pokhara". Obviously, the landscape is literally astounding in the lap of the Annapurna Himalayan Range; Pokhara is blanketed with sapphire blue lakes, green forest, deep gorges, underground waterfalls, caves, hills and rills. If Kathmandu is the cultural hub of Nepal, then Pokhara represents its natural beauty, a place to refresh and relax and to discover the wondrous creativity of divine nature at its natural best. Many people from different parts of the world come here just to awaken the sleeping beauty of this geographical paradise. This is not only an 'Ode to an Odyssey' but certainly a once in a life-time chance to holiday amidst some of the most stunning landscapes on earth.

To go a little further, imagine a perfect, snow-capped mountain buffeted by icy Himalayan winds. Imagine a millpond calm lake reflecting the snowy peaks. Go on to imagine a village on the shore, thronged by travelers and reverberating to the sound of 'Om Mani Padme Hum' wafting from shops selling prayer flags, carpets, masks, singing bowls and CDs of Buddhist mantras. This is another part of Pokhara. Some of the most popular treks in the world begin their gutsy, mesmerizing trails from this calm & lovely lake city.

Remember! Nature is not ours to control but at least we can partake of its ephemeral beauty.
